Family Home Evening - Corn Maze

We wanted to take Rachel out to Linder Farms and see how she would do.  We got there and let her get in the corn box 1st thing.  Probably a bad decision since she wanted to just stay there.  Oh well we had to let her do something while we waited for the tractors to come around to take us to the pumpkin patches.

 Cheese!!!

 Walking in the corn box.

Trying to get on the hay ride.

Hanging out on the hay ride.  After the first stop she wanted to get off.  We had to wait till the fourth stop and she was about to come unglued because she wanted to be able to sit on the edge and we were trying to keep her up on the hay bales.

 Scott & Rachel

See I am actually there.  I know I mostly take the pictures so I'm not in very many of them.

 An almost good family picture.

I just love Scott's look on this one.  Not to enthused by my picture taking.

You can see the joy in her face because we were actually moving by this point.

Look at all these pumpkins.  Which one do I want?

This looks like a good pumpkin.  Yeah she picked up a bunch of pumpkins but she didn't want any of them.  So we ended up not picking a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.  Maybe next year.

One of the activities that was actually free at Linder's was a petting zoo.  We let Rachel go in to see the animals.  She was going from one to the other so fast.  I was shocked to see the baby animals that they had there.  They had the following babies there to pet: buffalo, sheep, donkey, zebra, kangaroo and goat.
 The buffalo

 The Kangaroo
She was so cute she would go up and be so excited about seeing them but she really didn't want to pet any of them.

 Standing at the tire playground.

In this picture she is in the hay bale maze and not liking it at all.  She's trying to beg me to take her over the top of the hay bales.  Scott walked around and showed her how to get out and she was so happy.

We ended up doing the field trip maze since she got so agitated in the hay bale maze.  She started out okay but by the first turn she was like okay let's go back.  We just kept talking to her and showing her which way to go.  She was crying off and on "I want out of the corn maze."  We made it out and she ran in front of us and we heard her say "Yeah we are out of the corn maze!"  Scott and I laughed so hard.  So of course back to the corn box is where we went.  We let her play there for about thirty more minutes.

More playing in the corn box.

Just playing with the corn in my hands.

Army crawling like the other kids.  She was doing angels in the corn but every time I tried to take that she would roll over and not let me get that picture of her.

It was so cold out there tonight that finally around 7:30 I was like okay I can't handle it any longer.  My toes were frozen and the hot chocolate didn't help much.  So you know of course Rachel was mad when we took her out of the toy box but once we got in the car and got her warmed up she realized it was a good thing to be going home.  We got home and Scott took off Rachel's shoes and they were completely filled with corn and sunflower seeds from the corn box.  I wonder how often they refill the box if every kid who gets in there gets that much in their shoes.  All in all it was a fun night and we will try again next year with her.

Go Food Convention

We had a friend show us this awesome food reserve company and so I decided I really wanted to go down and see what it was all about.  They had been talking about introducing new items so I wanted to be there to hear all the awesome announcements.  Scott thought that he should stay home with Rachel and do homework and so I went to Pocatello and spent the night with my parents on Thursday October 20th.  At 9:00 in the morning on Friday October 21st I headed out to McCammon to ride the bus down to SLC.  We went straight to our hotel when we got down to SLC.  We stayed in the Grand America hotel which is a 5 star hotel.  Yes the first time I've ever stayed at a 5 star hotel.  It was pretty nice. This is the picture of the room I had all to myself.

 The bedroom and living area.

 A desk

The vanity outside of the bathroom area.
The bathroom.  The tub was really nice.  I enjoyed relaxing in it.

Looking from the bathroom back into the vanity area.

After we checked in we hung out and was able to get on the bus to go look at the warehouse and distribution centers.  It was pretty awesome to see where all the food is made at.  The place is immaculate and they said they keep it that way all the time.  Makes me feel better knowing the food is made in a clean sterile environment.

Pallets of ingredients ready to be mixed in the mixers.  Each box is an entree or soup with all the ingredients that will be going into that batch.

 Warehouse

This is one of the mixers.  They mix 3,000 lbs of food at a time. Everything is precisely measured as it goes into the mixer.

This is one of the machines that actually seals the product into the envelopes.

Another view of the sealing machines.

This is actually in the distribution center.  They have 6 million dollars worth of inventory that they are turning over every 4 to 6 weeks.  That means our food that's going into our pantries are really fresh and haven't been sitting on the shelf for months or even years.

Another isle of the distribution center.

So Friday night was the first meeting where they told us they were going to be changing their brand from eFoods to Go Foods.  I totally love the new branding of the food.  They've made the packing awesome and added six new entrees and also a beverage line.

Picture of the convention and the new look of Go Foods.
This is the new logo.  It looks "Sexy" as they were saying all weekend.  Who would have thought food was "sexy."  We laughed each time they said it.  I think it looks pretty cool though and the new beverage line is awesome and I love some of the new entrees.  Anybody ready to try this let me know.
Saturday night after all the training we got to rock out to a band.  If you can't tell that's Alex Boye.  Yes the guy from Jericho Road and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  He was so much fun to watch.  He was high energy and was making us laugh by his antics. It was awesome to be so close to him.

Super Saturday Crafts

Since my ward and stake don't do Super Saturday's anymore, Kristi called and told me about her ward's super Saturday and so I decided I should make the trip to Idaho Falls and do crafts with her.  We had a great time.  We did two crafts there at the church and the third one we did at Kristi's house so that we could get to Kristi's house to put Rachel down for her nap.

This is my first Halloween decoration.  Halloween hasn't ever been my favorite holiday so I've never accumulated any decorations.  I think it's pretty cool looking.

Yes I did make this with some help from Kristi but a center piece for Christmas that's completely homemade.  Picture of the front.
 From the top

This is the craft we took back to Kristi's house to do.  Rachel wouldn't take a picture with it on so that I could show everyone so I just laid it on the floor so that it could be seen.  It's really full and almost drowns Rachel.  :-)
We also ended up doing pumpkin rolls this weekend also.  We ended up making six pans of pumpkin logs and they are so yummy. I love having them in my fridge and freezer for the holidays.

Socks on Hands

So now that it's getting colder we keep attempting to put socks on Rachel.  Every time I turn around though this is where her socks are ending up.

As Rachel would say "Socks on Hands." :-)

Copy Cat

We have noticed that Rachel has started to be a copy cat on the things that Scott and I do.  It's so funny to watch her start learning new things.  Here are a couple of things she is starting to copy us with.
1.  Brushing our teeth - She saw that we brush and then put water in our mouth and spits it out.  She asks for her toothbrush and will brush while we are brushing and then hurries to scurry up onto the toilet so that she can lean over the counter and put her hands under the faucet to try and put water in her mouth to then spit it out.  It's so funny to watch.

2.  I actually put her socks on today since we have gotten a little bit cold over here in Boise and it's time to pull out the winter cloths.  As I put the socks on I pulled them all the way up and she said to me, "No roll them." and proceeded to flip them over once and then took her pant leg and tugged on it to go over her sock.  I started to laugh because she had watched her dad do this every day he goes to work and she now does it.  It's so funny.

She is growing up so fast and I love to watch her learn new things.

Our Little Pirate

We have a little pirate among us in Boise.  This is so cute.  She randomly says this during the day.  I actually got her to say it into the camera.  Usually she's to shy but lately she likes to get her picture taken as long as she gets to look at it after you take her picture.  The 2nd video is a close up and little easier to hear her say it.

Yes those are socks on her hands.  :-)

Package from Grandma

Rachel of course has been watching her Elmo videos and one of them is about mail and the process of putting a letter in an envelope, address it, put a stamp on it and then take it to the mailbox.  It also goes through how it goes from the sender to the receiver.  So recently Rachel has started to help open up the mail and she found my mother's day card and started calling it a package.  She walked around pulling it out and trying to put it back in the envelope and would then lick it like she was sealing the envelope.  While we were talking to Scott's parents about it Grandma decided to send Rachel her very own package.  This is her opening her package.

Trying so hard to get it to open up.

I couldn't believe I actually got this shot.  It's cute though as she is still trying to get the package open.

 Almost in.....

 A coloring book,

 What else is in there????
There was a package of crayons and a package of Twizzler pieces.  She loved her package so much.

Explosion

WARNING - This post is not for the weak stomach.

So the last couple of days Rachel had been having some constipation issues.  So since we had been to the doctor a few weeks earlier she told us just to make sure that we use Miralax to help Rachel not get plugged up.  Well she had been flowing very well so Scott and I weren't to worried when we missed a couple of days in a row without giving her any.  DUMB DUMB mistake.  Poor little girl got plugged up again.  So we tried to get her to eat some prunes and drink prune juice but she wasn't willing so we had to really start the Miralax like the doctor said.  Well finally after two days of doing this she finally started to get the hard poop out but just in little spurts.  We had taken her to Kammi's house and Kammi told us that she had started to flow and Kammi had changed 5 diapers.  Well as we were sitting there talking with Kammi Rachel ended up with another diaper full.  So we got home and changed her.  Scott and I had to attend to the fact that we thought we had a leak in the ceiling and so while we were doing this I could hear Rachel actually grunting to get the poop out. (This is completely unusual for her because she likes to go hide and not be looked at while she does this).  So just before we left to go to dinner I changed her again and this time I was completely shocked to see a poop the size of a plum in her diaper.  1.  How did she get that out?  2.  I can now see why there was so much noise getting it out.  Anyways so we headed to dinner.  Well that big poop was the begginning of what was to come.  We made it to dinner and she had pooped again in her diaper.  Well just before we left I went into the bathroom and changed her again.  We decided that we would go over to the Verizon store and see what they have for phones.  Well again within 10 minutes her diaper was poopy again.  I didn't think anything about it because we thought well we can talk to them and then we will just go home.  Another DUMB mistake by the parents.  I picked her up after we were in the store for about 15 minutes and that was when I realized there was pooping coming out of the diaper.  So I hurried to get the diaper bag and asked to be lead to their bathroom.  We ended up having poop everywhere.  It was a complete and utter explosion.  We had poop on the pants and on her shirt.  It took all the baby wipes that I had to get it cleaned up plus some paper towels.
SIDE NOTE: I just have to say that it was my jinxing us because I had seen a friends post on Facebook where their child had pooped and it was all the way up the back to the hair and everything.  I thought to myself boy I'm so happy we haven't ever had that happen. So see I totally jinxed us.
So we left the bathroom with Rachel in a diaper and her shoes.  When Scott saw her he was like oh I guess we need to go home.  I said yep we do.  So Rachel and I went to the car where I wrapped her in a blanket since it was raining outside and cold.  At one point on the way home she was crying again and told me:  "Mommy make it stop!"  I felt so bad because as I had changed several of her diapers she wasn't even able to hold the poop in it was just flowing right out.  I know it wasn't very fun for her but we were happy that at least she is flowing again.
