Cooking with Mom

Rachel sometimes love to come help me make dinner.  So the other day I totally let her help me stir the soup.  It was pretty cute.  Here is Rachel helping me make Taco Soup.

March 4th - Today was another cooking day with Rachel.  We ended up making some muffins and some cookies.
 Mixing up the ingredients.

We had to use our hands since we don't have a really cool mixer.  She loved being able to use her hands and then eat the dough off of them.  I had to take it away because as I turned away to stir our dinner she was actually eating the dough right out of the bowl.  She's a girl after my own heart but I think she would have ate the whole bowl if I hadn't stopped her.  ha ha ha

1st Made Easter Decoration

We went to Idaho Falls this last weekend because Scott went to a Nurse Practitioner conference.  Rachel and I went along so that we could hang out with Kristi at her house.  Whenever we get together we end up making a craft and this time was no different.  We didn't have anything planned but Kristi had found this craft on pinterest and we took two different ideas and made them our own.  I love love love the way it turned out.  I have to say this is probably the first time I've had a craft turn out that I totally love.

A close up so you can actually see the ribbon and buttons on the eggs.  That made them so cute.

How it looks actually hangs on a door.
This was so super easy and ended up being so cute.

Rachel's 3rd Birthday Party

Rachel's 3rd Birthday party was on February 18th at 1:30.  We had Scott's family here for the weekend and my parents.  It was lots and lots of fun.  Those that attended are: Wuthrich Family, Grani and Bop, Brad and Tracy Schaffer, Kylee Hanson, Dennis and Sue Ellen Hobbs, Nelson Family, Kristin and Meridian, Peterson Family.  Rachel started to open the presents when everyone showed up.

Bubble Bath, Bath Soap, and a sponge.

New Dress up Dress.  She had to have it put on as soon as she saw it.

New Cowgirl Boots.  A little bit big but she will grow into them.

Another dress up dress - Snow White.  She totally loves this one and wore it most of the day even though it was so big on her.  She wouldn't even try on the other two.  She also got a frog towel and new shorts.

A new tea set.

This was made by Rachel's "Mema".  It is so cool and she spent so much time hot gluing these little beads all over this letter.  It's so cool.  I just love it and it looks so cool on Rachel's bedroom wall.

Rachel's new sandbox.

The sand in the crab.  Scott and I can't decide on a place to put it so right now it's sitting on the porch until we can get that decided on.  Rachel said to me and Scott, "I have a sandbox now I don't have to dig in the dirt."  I laughed and said, "Yep you are right."

 New Belle Dress Up.

Tinkerbell Dress Up.

New Poncho made from scratch. :-)

Rachel is into Tangled and so we decided to get her a Tangled cake.  It was white with strawberry filling.  Oh it was so good and so cute.

Blowing out the candles.
This year she got the hang of actually blowing out the candles.

AND
This is what happens when you don't take a nap and you've had such a fun eventful birthday.
She totally couldn't keep her eyes open any longer.  I was laughing as I watched her start to bob and weave before finally she just pushed her plate away and laid down on the table.

Random Pictures from Rachel's birthday Weekend

We had several of Scott's family here for Rachel's birthday weekend.  Rachel had a great time with her cousins since we don't get to see them all that often.  Here are some of the good pictures from the weekend.

This is called Double Trouble.  Karlee and Rachel were best buds the whole weekend.  Where one was the other one was also.  They got into so much mischief.

Playing on the stairs.

Rachel's cousin Kylee dressed in Rachel's tutu that Rachel doesn't like much.

You can probably see where this is going to go.  I'm sure they are scheming with each other in their own little words.

Yep saw this coming.  Let's walk all over Uncle Keith.

Helping me make a salad for everyone.

Not at all surprised to see Scott catching a cat nap.  I don't know how he does it with all the noise but he can practically sleep anywhere.

Another time when they got out of site of the grown ups and the other cousins weren't paying attention to what they were doing.  Hanging out in the bathroom playing.

Lexi decided to put all these hair bows in Rachel's hair.  Almost every little bow we have is in her hair.

Ready for church in my new Valentine's Dress.

This is Bop & Grani.  Great picture of them.

Valentine's Day 2012

This Valentine's Day was pretty uneventful.  Scott had to get alot of homework done since we were going to be having Rachel's birthday party over the weekend and he wouldn't have time to do homework.  So Rachel and I hung out just running errands.  We called Scott and ended up going to Subway for dinner.  Yep I said it, Subway.  Rachel started to get a little bit tired of running errands and started to throw several temper tantrums while we were there.  We ended up getting home and we gave Rachel her Valentine's presents.  She was pretty excited about what she got.  Mostly the candy she got though.

Dumping everything out.

Floam.  Mom likes this stuff it cleans up really easy after we played with it.

Candy, New Dress, more candy, floam, and glow in the dark stars.

Check out my new glow in the dark stars.

Rachel's 3rd Birthday

We decided that since we weren't having Rachel's birthday party until the Saturday the 18th we should probably at least acknowledge it on the real date.  So we decided we should take her to Pojo's.  None of us had ever been there so it was definitely an experience.  We weren't sure how Rachel would do so we did the Monday special where you get 40 tokens and 4 amusement rides.  We were hoping that we would be able to ride the bumper cars but she was to little.  We tried to teach her how to do skeet ball but when she didn't roll it hard enough and the ball came back to her she ran away and wouldn't try again.

Here are the pictures of her favorite thing to do and mostly that was just ride on the toys and not play any of the games.  We were okay with it.  This horse was her favorite one to ride.

Horsey

Giddy Up Horsey.

She loved riding it so much and it was so cute I had to get the video of it.  We probably spent most of our tokens on this ride.  Check out the form.  She's going to be a cowgirl soon with Kristin's help.

Riding the Snoopy Airplane

This is like whack a mole but she really didn't like it because she had to be held to reach it.  Scott had to finish up this game after she gave up.

One token for two little tootsie rolls.  Man those are expensive tootsie rolls.

This is a motorcycle.

Another type of Horsey to ride.
It was so funny because when she found ones she liked she would say again, again. We of course we just said, "Okay."  She was having fun and that's what we wanted.

Riding the rocket this time.  She wasn't quite sure if she liked this one.  It only got one token. :-)

So in order for Rachel to ride the carousel she had to be accompanied by an adult.  Well I took the first turn and when we finished I told Scott it was his turn.  I was so dizzy.  Rachel loved it.  While I was sitting out though I counted how many times they let you go around and it was 10 times.  So after Scott and I both took a turn we had to take a little break and go play some more before we went back and let her take her last two rides.  I definitely don't like spinning rides.  Give me a roller-coaster any day.

They had a little play set there and she was afraid to go down the slide but once I went up top with her and showed her she could see Scott at the bottom that was the end.  She went up and down I don't know how many times.

This was Scott's turn on the carousel.

See I was doing okay with this ride.  Not too dizzy yet.

Super Bowl Party 2012

This year Scott was actually off of work and so I decided we were off to Pocatello to my friends house for her Super Bowl party.  Drummer always has a party and I've been going to it for a long time.  So we got up Sunday and got ourselves ready to go.  We headed to Poky and got there around 1:00.  We stopped and saw my parents for a bit and unloaded the car.  We then went up to Drummer's house to start getting ready for the game.  I always make sticky rice for it so I made that and we waited for everyone else to show up.  The game this year was a repeat of 5 years ago the New York Giants vs. The New England Patriots.  I wanted the Patriots to win.  The party was great because we always have so much food and it is always so good.  We also enjoy seeing each other since we don't get to see each other very much any longer.  The game was okay it was kind of boring until the last 5 minutes of the game.  The commercials were funny this year so that was good. I really liked the vampire commercial and the M&M commercial.  I totally loved loved loved the halftime show.  It was Madonna.  She ended up singing a bunch of songs that I actually recognized.  I love when the entertainment actually is good and you can sing along with them.  Rachel fell asleep during the 4th quarter and the New York Giants ended up pulling out the win again this year.  Argh I was so frustrated but oh well such is life.  We headed to my parents to spend the night.  Rachel didn't sleep well and I ended up with a migraine so we slept out in the recliner.  We came home Monday so Scott could get to his homework.  So a quick trip but it was lots and lots of fun for another quick trip away from home.  My hope is next year my San Fransisco 49ers can play as well as they did this year and just win that last game that will put them in the Super Bowl.

Enjoying Breakfast

Rachel wanted pancakes the other day.  My friend taught me about making pancakes with chocolate chips so that they don't get sticky.  Well I don't think today it worked, syrup might have been better for us.  ;-)

Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate everywhere.  She did eat all the pancake though so I have to give her credit for that.  I'm so glad she likes breakfast as much as she does.  She's a good breakfast eater.

McCall Winter Festival

So Monday January 30th we decided we would go up and see the Winter Carnival sculptures.  We like going and looking at them and we knew Rachel hadn't ever been so we thought what a great family outing.  I drove up so Scott could work on his homework so that it wouldn't be a total wasted day for him.  We were a little bit worried about the roads because there had been slid offs but we really didn't get moving until about 10:00 so by the time we started up to McCall the roads had some sun on them and they were actually really nice.  We found out that the best time to go to McCall is a Monday morning.  We had only one vehicle that I got behind on the way up there.  Other then that it was just me on the road.  So nice.  We got up there at lunch time and eat at the Pancake House.  They seated us next to an elderly couple and their friends.  Rachel picked up a conversation with them and they became "Friends".  The older gentlemen asked Rachel if she would be his grand daughter.  She wasn't to sure about it but it was funny I was laughing.  She loves conversing with older people. After lunch we then went in search of the sculptures.  This year as the day wore on we were more and more disappointed by the sculptures.  I'm not sure if they didn't have enough snow in time to make them or just what happened but they definitely weren't as good as they were in the past.  Here are some of the pictures of our adventure.

Inside of the tent of the Teton National Forest display.

This is the view of most of the display.

VW Bus.  Pretty cool if they would brush off the fresh snow that had fallen.

I really like this one.  Its the Sesame Street Characters.  Front Left to right: Oscar the Grouch, Count, Bert & Ernie, Big Bird, Cookie Moster, Snufalufagus

 Polar Bear

This snowman is giant size.  It was really cool.  Scott's question was I wonder how they got those snowballs on top of each other.  My thought was a crane!

Rachel rubbing the bell of this walrus.

Wee this is so fun.  She loved being able to actually play on one of the sculptures.

To eternity and beyond.  Rachel thought Buzz Lightyear was really cool because of how big it was.

My turn to stand next to Buzz.

I liked this sculpture because it was Candyland.  They had cupcakes and lollipops made out of ice.  So cool.

Rachel sitting in the Candyland Building.

Rachel falling out of the Candyland building.  She was like that's to slick as she went boom.

This is Jurassic Park.  A really cool sculpture that someone took a lot of time to build.  One of our favorites. The next couple pictures are part of this one sculpture.

Triceratops Dinosaur

T-Rex Dinosaur

This is the Grand Prize Winner.  We thought it was definitely one of the better ones.

This was the last one we saw as we headed out of town.  I was surprised at how detailed they were actually able to get the snowmobile.  Of course the pictures don't do it justice.  Rachel started to get tired and didn't want to walk any longer and so around 4:00 we finished up looking at all the sculptures.  We headed back to Boise and I have to say the traffic was perfect again.  Hardly anyone on the roads and the roads were totally dry on the way back down.  It was a great day and a fun family outing.  Maybe some day we will actually get to hang out up there for several days and see more of the carnival, but for now we will just enjoy day trips.
