Bouncing on the Tramp

Rachel and Scott ended up going outside and bouncing on the trampoline.  Rachel was so excited to get to spend some time with her daddy.  They bounced and played for about half an hour.  She was so funny to watch as they were out there.

Chasing each other on the tramp.
This is them looking for shadows.
Rachel would lay on her stomach and say to Scott look for Peter Pan's shadow or Tinkerbell or Wendy's shadow.  Such an imagination she has right now.   It so fun to listen to her.

Fixing an Owie.

Wearing out Daddy.

Sunday Outing

Well everyone in this household isn't feeling so well and so after staying home from Stake Conference and feeling like the walls were coming in on us we went for a ride to see the "Rooster Tail" that was coming out of Lucky Peak Dam.  It was crazy up there and so hard to get close but luckily we got to sneak into a parking spot to walk up closer to the Rooster tail.  The wind was blowing so the spray was coming over the walking path.  We only went up to where it was blowing onto the path.  This is a pretty impressive scene in real life.  They do this every year and yet this was the first time we had gone to see it.  You could do a driving tour of it but the line was really to long and I didn't have the patience for that.

The "ROOSTER TAIL"

Rachel wouldn't look at the camera so I could get her in the picture with the rooster tail so this is the best we could get.

The waves were really impressive also.  So much water coming out of the dam and yet they are letting out even more every day.

Rachel Funnies

So I thought these things were pretty funny today with Rachel.  Her personality is really starting to show.
1.  At nap time I had Scott take her to bed and she told Scott that she couldn't sleep unless she got in her jammies.  Scott told her that she was only taking a nap and could stay in her clothes.  She told him that she couldn't go to bed in her regular clothes.  So he told her that if she could get her clothes off then she could get in her jammies.  Needless to say she was able to take her clothes off and put her jammies on all by herself.  Imagine that when she wants to do something she can.
2.  Scott and I were talking about somewhere to go to dinner and she piped in I want Johnny Carino's.  We just both laughed because we have created a monster for that restaurant.  We ended up deciding though that we would go to Chili's instead since we could eat cheaper there and we had a coupon.  We have started to let her order her own food at restaurants.  It's quite funny that she can do it by herself just at 3 years old.  She wanted to have corn on the cob which she has never had.  She has some "fake" corn on the cob and I was showing her the other day as we were playing how to eat it and so needless to say when she got her corn on the cob today she did the exact same thing as I had shown her.  She did an awesome job eating it which we were surprised.  There was hardly anything left on it.  Here is a picture of what she looks like eating corn on the cob.

This is yummy.
She's So cute.  Look at those big blue Eyes!

Running through the Sprinklers TODAY

Yes you read this title correctly. (89 Degrees today in Boise) Only she wasn't supposed to be running through the sprinklers.  She was supposed to be on the new trampoline that Uncle Wayne, Aunt Amber, and Mom put up for her to play on.  Scott and I were trying to check out the sprinkler system to see if the heads were hitting the new sod.  Well Rachel some how climbed off the tramp by herself and the next thing I knew she was standing in the middle of the sprinklers.  Clothes and All.   I tried to get her out of the water before she was soaked but really by the time I saw her it was to late anyways and so I was whatever, I might as well take pictures of her instead of yelling at her.  Water never hurt anything to badly.

 Letting the sprinklers hit her.

Close up of her just standing there letting the water hit her.

Of course playing in the sprinklers wasn't enough she needed to splash in the puddle that was building on her slide.

I laugh at this one because you can almost tell she looks like a drowned rat.  Her hair is soaked.

I wish I had gotten another picture of her because while we were in the garage still messing with the sprinkler system we came back out and Rachel only had her shirt and diaper on.  The pants were to restricting wet and so she took them off.

She is definitely my little fish and is going to have so much fun this summer in swimming lessons and in her little swimming pool we got for her.

P.S. Side note on this post for my journaling I also burned the scalloped potatoes for dinner because I was out here messing with the sprinkler system with Scott and forgot I had them on the stove boiling.

Opie & Sara's Baby Q

Our friends had a Baby Q yesterday (4/21) at Settler's Park.  I haven't ever taken Rachel there because it's an 1/2 an hour away from our house.  So she was pretty excited to get to go to the park.  Amber and Wayne came up for the Baby Q also because it was Wayne's brother Opie who is about to become a new dad.  So it was fun to have them there even though Rachel was really over stimulated and I had to take her home early.  She went to the park with Wayne and his four kids.  Wayne was a trooper for taking them all.  We got them to come over and eat some dinner and then it was back to the park she wanted to go.  So I took her over there to play.
These pictures are of her favorite things to do at the park.
Rachel and Bryson climbing on the rock.  She got scared and didn't move much further than this on the rock.

Yes I did it!!!!!!
Actually I think she is screaming "Cheese" in this picture because I was trying to get one of her at least smiling.

Now this is my size of a rock.

Crawling all over this rock all by her little self.  No help from mom at all.

And of course she loves the slides.  I love the look on her face in this one.

This was her last turn on the slide so let's go down on our belly.

And of course one of her face with all the frosting from her ice cream cone cupcake.  She loved it and had frosting everywhere.

New Sod

So we bought that extra 6 feet of land for our camper pad and haven't done anything with the lawn that goes from the camper pad back to the garden.  Well since Scott's in school and never has time to help me right now with the house or the yard work I took it upon myself to decide we would lay sod there.  Yes I was extremely tired of pulling weeds out of it.  So I went to the Turf company and bought 15 rolls of sod and laid it in the spot.  Looks pretty good if I do say so myself.  Well I ended up having two extra rolls.  I paid for them and wasn't going to let them go to waste.  So I laid another row on the bottom of the garden area.  Scott happened to be home while I was doing this and of course just happened to come out as I was laying that last row in the garden.  He asked me what I was doing and I told him I made an executive decision that the last two rolls were going in the garden to shorten up the garden.  He just shrugged his shoulders and walked into the house.  (I think he's learned it's not worth it to question a women on a mission).  Here is the finished product:

This is the 6 feet extra that we bought.  I hope it doesn't die like the grass next to it does.  I don't know what our lawns problem is but it's very frustrating.

The one foot row I put at the bottom of the garden. Hopefully the dead grass that Scott killed at the end of last season happens to come back to fill in the dead spot in between the old grass and the new grass.

Happy / Sad Faces

So recently Rachel has started to make faces and asks me to make faces.  She is the one who tells me which face to make.  She she will say, "Happy", "Sad", "Mad", "Scary" or "Surprised." Mostly I end up getting these faces shown to me while she is brushing her teeth. (It's a great way to prolong not going to bed). Well today she decided to show them to the camera.  They are pretty funny.

Happy Face

Sad Face - It actually looks like a mad face but she said it's her sad face.

Happy Again.  I love how she makes her eyes open up really wide for happy.

Sad Face - I still think it looks mad but oh well.

Caterpillar Tickles

Rachel loves her new caterpillar.  This is what she started to do when we got back into the house after she found it outside on her slide.

Easter 2012

Well it is Easter time again.  I can't believe how fast time has flown by.  I have to say that now that we have a child I enjoy holiday's a lot more.  Scott got off work this morning and so I bugged him trying to keep him awake.  Rachel got up at 7:45 and I was downstairs making our breakfast when she came down.  I got the casserole all put together and told her to go wake up her dad and we would got out to see if the Easter bunny showed up.  She was so excited to get Scott out of bed(he was only in it for about 20 minutes).  We headed outside to find eggs and presents.  Use this link to see the actually video:  Easter Morning

Needless to say you can tell in this video the wind is blowing and it was bitter cold.  So she only wanted to get her caterpillar and the 7 eggs she picked up and then was ready to come in the house.

 Picking up her 7 eggs.

She found the caterpillar and wasn't really into picking up eggs at that point but we got her to pick up another one.

A giant coloring book of princesses for her.

The 7 eggs we got the first time out.

Playing with her caterpillar.  She really loved it so much.  She even started to pretend it was tickling her.  So funny.
I then took her into the living room and showed her what else the Easter Bunny left for the family.  Left to right:  Susan, Scott, & Rachel's.

Alright so I turned around to pull the casserole out of the oven and when I turned back around she had grabbed her Cadbury egg and took a huge bite out of it.  This is the 1st time she has ever had one of them and I can safely say she likes them.   We had an Easter casserole(potato sausage) which ended up being pretty good.  Scott ended up going back to bed so he could get a couple hours of sleep before we went to church.  Rachel and I then went back outside and picked up the rest of the eggs.  Of course it was still pretty cold out there.

Picking up Eggs again.

This time we finished picking up the eggs even though it was so cold outside.

This is how many Easter eggs she got to pick up.

Yes she made a haul but that's what happens when your an only child.  :-)

Now it's time to open the eggs.  Every time she opened one she tried to eat everything that was in the egg.  I had to stop her so she didn't do that.
Eating a chocolate egg.  Yummy these are really good.

Opening eggs.  She did awesome at sorting this year.  She put the candy in the candy bowl, made a pile for her coins, and then put the empty eggs back in her basket.  She is growing and understanding by leaps and bounds.

Yep a bowl full of candy from the Easter Bunny's eggs and a pile of coins for my piggy bank.

Laying down on the Caterpillar to put her money in her piggy bank.

And we can't forget the new Easter Dress.  She has been so excited to have a new dress.  We got her pictures taken at Target but the pictures won't be back until next Tuesday so this is the best we can do for taking a picture of her dress.

So we headed to church and it was a really rough day at church.  None of the kids were very reverent.  I even took my primary class outside to let them run around because they wouldn't settle down.  So we  got home and Rachel watched the living scriptures and played with her toys.  She was not allowing me to cook dinner and so I finally told her to just go take a nap. So the next thing I know this is how I found her.  Yep sound asleep on the floor.

Man playing and having fun on a holiday is hard work.  She doesn't just zonk out on the floor usually so this was quite a shock to see.  I love this little girl though she sure does keep us guessing.

It "Freakin" hurts

So Rachel is being very stubborn with potty training.  I really wish she would stop fighting me and just do it but that is just Rachel and her being independent so I've stopped pushing it.  So needless to say tonight she told me that her bum hurt.  I was trying to get her to get ready for bed.  So I told her as soon as she got her toys picked up we would change her bum.  Well by the time she finished cleaning up her toys she was crying and I was feeling so bad.  So we went to change her bum and she of course was freaking out because she knew what was coming with the hurting just changing her.  Yep she is completely broken out again.  I hate that "acidic" poop that she has.  So as I was holding her and trying to comfort her after this ordeal of trying to get her cleaned up she said to me, "My bum freakin hurts!"  I just about died rolling on the floor with laughter.  It just was so funny coming out of a 3 year olds mouth.  This is the first time I have ever heard her say this also so it was a shocker.  Here's a video of her saying it just so you can see how funny it sounds.

Dying Easter Eggs 2012

So I almost forgot about having to dye eggs.  So I hurried to cook some eggs and then after Scott went to work Rachel and I worked on dying the eggs.  She's not into it very much.  I think I could have forgotten about it and she would have been fine. I gave her the crayon to color on the eggs but because you couldn't see where it was actually putting anything she didn't think it was working.  We ended up just putting them in the color and then putting stickers on them.  I did try the shrinking pieces of paper onto the egg and realized after I dipped them in the boiling water it takes the dye off the egg.  So not very successful at this whole dying Easter eggs but we attempted it.

Using the "magic crayon" to write on the eggs.  She didn't like this because it didn't look like it was doing anything and so she got frustrated.

So on to the stickers.  Something you can actually see.

My Heart egg that I made with the "magic crayon".

All our eggs that we colored.

I ended up putting the wraps on these eggs.  This is the first time I've ever done them.  They were cool. Even though it took the dye color off my eggs.  :-(

Yes you better believe it I made a sports egg.  he he he

This is our dozen of eggs.  Turned out okay and was fun to do just before Rachel had to go to bed.  She did end up cracking several of them just by putting them on the counter.  She didn't understand that she had to be "soft" with them.
