Day at Mom's Work

So today was a really busy day at work for me.  The College of Pharmacy has decided since this week is dead week the student, faculty and staff should have spirit week.  So today which is Thursday April 28th was Cowboy Day.  I was excited to actually dress up because I had clothes I could actually wear.  The rest of the week I didn't participate because I didn't have an ugly sweater and I didn't have any hippie clothes.

So this is what they got for Cowboy(Cowgirl) Day.

Today at work was also bring your child to work day.  So I told Scott to bring Rachel to work so that she could come to our Ice Cream Social and then he could go home and sleep before going to work and I would just take care of her at work for the afternoon.  She is an Administrative Assistant in the making.  Not only does she have one laptop she has two.  he he he !!!  She was really good for the three hours we stayed at work.  I turned on PBS Kids on the laptop and she watched Super Y so I could get my work done.
Smiling for the camera.

 Acting silly for the camera.

Elmo's World

So my co-worker told me I needed to get a video of Rachel singing Elmo's World.  So the other day I did just that.  She's kind of being silly as she is singing this but this is a song she loves.  It is of course adorable to her parents.

Chocolate Chocolate

Yes Rachel got some chocolate for Easter.  I was letting her open her eggs before church and was totally not expecting this when she did it.

Yes you did just see her double fist the candy into her mouth.  Of course it had to be a blue robin egg also so she ended up with blue on her little sweater before church.  I know rookie Mom mistake.

Here is Rachel after church finishing opening the eggs.  Can you tell she likes chocolate?

So after we opened all the eggs and eat lunch we then put our living scripture videos to use.  We put in "He is Risen" so that we could talk to Rachel about the real meaning of Easter and why we celebrate it.  I'm not sure exactly how much she got out of it but she sure loves watching the video and pointing out Jesus.

Easter Day Post 2

So after doing our egg hunt we ended up getting ready for church. In an earlier post I posted her Easter dress. Well we got some pictures of her opening her eggs. She found a couple of eggs that had coins in them so she had to "feed her piggy bank".

She didn't even need any help putting the money in her bank. She likes to feed her piggy bank. Needless to say the Easter bunny gave her all her silver that she had.

This was after church.  We decided to open the rest of the eggs.  I looked for the money eggs so that we could feed the piggy bank all at one time. If you can't tell she starts singing to the radio.  She just loves singing.

Easter Day - Egg Hunt

On Easter we woke up at 7:45 when Rachel woke up. It was really nice to be able to sleep in. We ended up making breakfast of French Toast and Sausage. We then told Rachel that the Easter Bunny came to give her some gifts. So we went outside to hunt for eggs and other presents.

Look I found an Elmo DVD

I found another Elmo DVD

This is her soccer ball she got. She was so excited to throw it. I'm going to have to teach her how to kick it so she can be as good as her mom was at soccer. :-) Some other gifts she got was a kite, sidewalk chalk and a bucket full of sand tools.

We didn't really get any pictures of her picking up the eggs because we were video taping. So this is her picking up her eggs but as you can tell she was more excited about the indoor trampoline that we picked up the night before for her. She loves to jump so we thought it would be good for her to have an indoor tramp so that we don't have to hold her as she jumps. She can now jump all by herself and as much as she wants.

Here's the video of her picking up her three eggs. :-)

Dying Eggs

So we decided to dye eggs with Rachel.  She was not patient at all to do this.  She wanted to put the eggs in the color and pull them out.  When we told her she had to wait 5 minutes oh my gosh you would have thought we had killed her.  Each time she had a melt down.  We finally gave her a timer and told her when the timer goes off that means it's time to change the eggs.  We also played blocks to help pass the time in between.

Trying to teach a 2 year old that you have to wait is not very easy.  She did not want to wait.

Trying to also show her how to gently put the egg in the dye.  She preferred the splash.

Just playing with the dye cups.  These were really cool because they are collapsible and the water fits perfectly in these containers.  I was worried we were going to spill them but they actually worked great for what we did with them.

Trying so hard to put the stickers on the eggs but the stickers are sticking to her fingers.

Letting Rachel put some of the eyes and mouths on the eggs.  She was having troubles getting them off her fingers.  So I would barely put them on the eggs and then she would push them the rest of the way on.

Part way through getting all the faces on the eggs.

Check out my eggs.  They are so cool.

Our Egg Faces.  So funny and so easy.

We tried to get a picture of her with the eggs but she would not cooperate.  She was too fast for the camera as she says.

So I tried to show Rachel how we wanted a picture of her but she didn't want anything to do with it.  She's actually having a melt down by my feet while Scott's taking this picture of me.  :-)

New Easter Dress

I think my little girl looks so adorable in this dress. It fits perfectly which has been so hard to find for Rachel right now. She's out growing her 18 month clothes but 24 month clothing is to big for her. So I was ecstatic that this dress fits perfectly.

Yes I do love my new dress. See me smile so big. :-)
Yes I'm Cute!

Sitting on the stairs hanging out in my new dress. Even the bows match perfectly. They were a gift given to us when we first got Rachel.

Check out my Bunny Ears

Say Cheese. I love this picture. She's starting to understand how to smile when the camera comes out.

Playing blocks with Dad in my bunny ears.

Daddy & Rachel cheesing it up for the camera. Scott loves his look. he he he

1st Public Easter Egg Hunt

I saw a poster the other day for an Easter Egg hunt and since they had a group for 0-2 year olds I thought it would be good for our first family Easter.

Scott's putting her sticker on so they know which group she was in.

Checking out the area. She didn't want to stay seated in her stroller.

Bringing her back again to the starting area.

Getting the eggs out in the area

Still waiting and very impatient about it. She tried to pick one up but we had to bring her back and she screamed bloody murder. I held her until it was time to go "hunt."

Actually picking up an egg. She went past several before picking up one.

She only got 5 eggs but she was fine with it.

Opening up the eggs to see what treasures were hidden within.

Wounded Mom

Okay so the other day Rachel was attempting to tell me what she wanted but I couldn't get anything out of the sentence except for the word "Read".  So I attempted to the book she had from her to read to her but she yelled No at me.  So I then tried to just read the pages she was opened to and that wasn't what she wanted either.  So I told her I didn't understand her.  Well that was the breaking point for her and she got so frustrated she just threw her book up in the air and I didn't have my face out of the way when she threw it.  This is the aftermath after I cleaned up the blood.  Yes it did bleed but no I didn't get a black eye which I was so grateful for.

I think I look mad in this picture but I was just trying to get a serious picture of the damage and didn't quite know what was going to be the best way to do it.
A close up of my book rash.  I've heard of road rash but never knew you could get it from a book.  he he he

Schaffer Egg Hunt

So the weekend before Easter all of Scott's family decided to get together to celebrate Easter.  It doesn't happen very often that everyone can get together.  So we headed down to Montpelier to Scott's parents house Friday after I worked 1/2 the day.  It was a long 5 hour drive.  We gave Rachel a new Elmo DVD and she was excited.  It kept her occupied for most of the way there.  So we hung out Friday night and then Saturday afternoon the kids got to go outside (the rain stopped that morning so we could do it outside) and hunt for eggs and other candies and a plush Easter Bunny for each child.  They had alot of fun.  This was the first time we got to see Rachel hunt for eggs.  She got into it a little bit.  She was funny.  When it came to pictures though she didn't want to have her picture taken. We then went into the house and opened up the eggs.  She liked opening the eggs and seeing what was in them.

Coming out of the house.

Nope going the other way!

Some of the kids out looking for eggs.  It was cute to watch them.

Scott looking for eggs with Rachel's initials on them.

Jamie and Myself cheesing it up for the camera while the kids are hunting eggs.

I found one!  Yeah

Let's go dad come on faster.  Trying to get her to pick up just her eggs was comical.

 Look here's another one.

Actually got her to smile for the camera.

Nope I don't want the yellow one I want the blue one.

I've got the blue one and it's not the yellow one. Ha Ha Ha Dad!

I love purple eggs the best because that's my favorite color.

Found the Reese Pieces Carrot with my initial on it.

I found my bunny.  Now lets see if it fits into my bag.

Another one.

I had just as much fun as the kids did.  It was fun to actually have a child participating and see her little face light up each time she found something that was hers.

Rachel didn't want to be in the picture with all the kids. She was more interested in the snow pile which was outside of the picture view. We tried to get it three times.  Every time she is taking off but at least Jamie got one with her close to the other kids.  It was so funny I kept laughing at her.  She has a mind of her own and if she doesn't want to do it she won't do it.

We went inside to open the eggs.  She loved opening them up and seeing if they had any chocolate in them.
