Halloween 2013

We have had lots of festivities for Halloween this year.  So after working all day today we got home and hooked up with Scott.  We ended up eating a Papa Murphy's pumpkin pizza and then headed out to Papa and Mema's house.
She's always excited when she gets to go see them and play with Daisy.
After we visited with them we hooked up with the Borzea's around 6:30 to go trick or treating around our neighborhood.
This year Rachel actually got the whole trick or treating.  These are the best pictures I could even get of her because she was running so fast back and forth between the houses.
She lasted like the energizer bunny for about four roads and then she was so tired she just crashed.  Scott had to go get the car and pick us up where we were at because there was no way she was going to be able to walk back to the car.  As soon as she saw the car she crawled in and that was that.  We headed to her trick or treat at her preschool teachers house and Kammi's house but oh she was so grouchy we shouldn't have even tried.  It was fun while she was happy but once she was done it wasn't so fun.  We know for next year not to go beyond that point.

October Accomplishments

1.  In preschool has learned the whole Pledge of Allegiance
2.  In preschool has been the flag bearer, the calendar person, the meteorologist, and the librarian.
3.  Got to sing a solo for the primary program of the song "When I am baptized" or as Rachel calls it, "The Rainbow Song"

Rachel comments:
This came the morning after we got back from Montpelier where Scott had grown a beard to go hunting.  Scott shaved off the beard and left his goatee.
Scott:  Rachel you need to wake up it's time to get ready for school.
Rachel:  (Pops her head up and then puts her face back into her pillow)  Grrrrr
Scott:  Rachel what's up?
Rachel:  You missed a spot dad.
Ah she makes my day with these comments.

This was a conversation Rachel had with Scott while he was out putting a new light bulb in the car.
Rachel: What are you doing dad?
Dad: Fixing the car.
Rachel: By yourself?
Dad: Yep by myself
Rachel: Is that a good idea?

Conversion with Scott while Rocking her for bed:
Rachel:  When are you going to shave your beard?
Scott:  I don't know, why?
Rachel:  You look like a scarey Lion, I want you to look like my Dad again!

The other day I picked Rachel up to go to dance class from the Borzea's house and she didn't want to go.  I kind of had to get grumpy with her to find her Halloween Costume that she had taken off.  So Laurel went up to help Rachel find it and I hear at the top of the stair, Rachel say, "This is the worst day of my life."  ha ha ha.  I couldn't hold back the laughter at this comment.

Dance Class

Since dance class was the day before Halloween they were still supposed to wear their costumes to class.  Rachel was so excited about this.  The following are some of the pictures of the dances they did during class.
Dancing with scarves.  Rachel loves these.

 Doing a train to dance.

Her whole class dressed up for the day.

Montessori Halloween Party

Rachel's class Halloween party was lots of fun.  They got to sing songs, do crafts and play games.
Their teacher read books to them while we were waiting for all the parents to get here for the program.

These are the three songs that they sang for us.
Pumpkins on the fence
10 Little Pumpkins

All the kids jumped in and cleaned up all the leaves that they threw at us.  Rachel was so excited about being able to throw leaves at us.  She and Aubree (her friend) told us even though it was supposed to be a secret.  Rachel hasn't figured out what a secret means.

The kids were split into two groups and Rachel got to go make a glow in the dark necklace.  She ended up having a melt down after this because I made her stand in line and not cut in line for another game.  So needless to say we ended up having to go to time out for a little bit.

After our melt down we went and got to decorate a cupcake.  She had fun with that and then ate it right afterwards.

The other game they played was they got to throw a ball into the jar and whatever jar the ball landed in they got some Halloween candy for their bag.  So they then had snacks.  Rachel showed me one of her new lessons that she had learned in school.  It was good to see what she is doing in school.

Ward Trunk or Treat

So after getting everything finished up at the HOA party we relaxed at home and then headed to the church for the ward trunk or treat.  I didn't decorate our trunk because we just didn't have anything.  We did decide to color Rachel's hair for this one.
Look how different she looks with red hair.  It definitely fits her personality but man it kind of wigged me out when looking around for her at times.
 She's so dang cute.

Checking out the blow up witch.

Scott took her around trunk or treating while I handed out candy.

Hanging out in the trunk.
Rachel had gone around once and was like okay I'm done I have enough candy.  She is so funny.  She still doesn't really like to trick or treat.  She's getting better but it doesn't really interest her.

HOA Halloween Party

Today was our HOA Halloween Party we had it early because we were also going to be having our Ward Trunk or Treat tonight.  This year Amy was in charge of this event.  She did an awesome job.  I pretty much just had to show up and be there to help so that was sweet.  We decided to just have games and some prizes for the kids to do while they were at this.
Cat Woman as our fearless leader.  Doesn't she look awesome.

 Rachel's as Ariel

 The cupcake walk

She won a cupcake so she gets a stamp.  This is how we kept track of all the kids that got cupcakes.
 Eating her cupcake
This was our spooky house.  The kids had to put their hands in the gross bowls.  Rachel wouldn't stand in line long enough to go in there.  She just doesn't have the patience.
I was in charge of getting everyone to guess the candy in the jars.  We also voted on the carved pumpkins.  We did a costume contest but that was giving everyone a ticket and then we drew for the best dressed.
These were the prizes for the best costumes.  Aren't they so cute.
Everything went very well.  Everyone had fun and there was no complaints that any of us heard about so that was really exciting.  We decided that not doing a trick or treating at it was a great thing because no one had to bring candy and more people showed up.  We counted 160 kids there from the tickets of the costume contest.  That was good for us. Another successful HOA Party.

Carving Jack O Lantern

Rachel this year got to go on a field trip to Linder Farms.  She picked out her own pumpkin.  It was pretty funny because she picked out the 1st one she saw.

Here she is picking up her pumpkin.  Grabbing it with both arms and lifting it up.  The lady told them to pick the biggest one they could lift.
This is the one she chose.

So last night we finally had our family home evening when we got to carve the pumpkin.  She was so excited to make a Jack O Lantern.
Scooping out the goop.  She really didn't like touching it that much.
Trying to scoop with all she had. Decided a big spoon was to big for her.
Dad helping to get all the goop out.
Wahoo finally a big goop of the insides on the pan.
Rachel actually decided what she wanted it to look like 1st on the piece of paper and then Scott drew it on the pumpkin and helped her carve it out.
 The finished project.
She really was excited to have a Jack O Lantern.  It can now not be called a pumpkin because it's a Jack O Lantern.
We found some little tea light candles to put it in and it now glows.

Primary Program & Yarn Blanket

This weekend we ended up having Scott's parents and Grani,  my parents, and Jamie's family come to our house.   Rachel got to sing a solo today at church.  She sang the song "When I Am Baptized" or as she calls it "The Rainbow song".  The weekend was spent with everyone going their own way because there was lots of shopping to be done.  We ended up eating at Fuddruckers so Scott's mom could have a good burger.  It actually ended up being really good.  Saturday Night Jamie, Hallee, Rachel and I went to the church to practice her song.  There was a reception going on in the gym so we had her sing into the mic that wasn't hooked up.  We ended up putting her up on some song books so that she could see over the podium.  The next day ended up being disastrous for her singing her song.  She got so upset that she couldn't see over the podium that she ended  up not paying attention to the song that she was singing by herself.  I was bummed because I know she knows the song and she just didn't do it.  After church Scott's family left.  I had to stay and teach my lesson so mom stayed with me.  My lesson went well.  Grandma Tracy had brought Rachel her crochet blanket that she made for her.  I had mentioned to her that Rachel didn't get one for her blessing day.  Scott's mom hadn't even thought about it and so she made one for Rachel.  This is Rachel's "Yarn Blanket".  Isn't it so cute.

Rachel loves it so much and sleeps with it every night.

Weekend in Montpelier

Jamie and I decided to do a Halloween Party for the family this year.  We decided it would be best to have it at Jamie's house.  So we headed to Montpelier for the weekend.  Scott took his gun so that he could go hunting over the weekend.  We left Friday when Scott got off work.  We of course stopped in Poky to eat with my parents.  After that we headed to Montpelier.  Saturday morning the boys got up to head out duck hunting.  Rachel and I slept in until about 8:00.  The guys got back around 10:30.  They actually ended up getting two ducks and Tyson got a Coyote.
Rachel wanted to see the ducks so she went out with Scott to see them.
Yep actually petting the ducks.  She is a silly girl.

Cleaning out the meat.  I left when they started this part.  This was the most I could handle.  Rachel of course stayed out here and watched the whole thing.

After lunch we ended up having a birthday party for Kylee.

Around 4:30 we all headed over to Jamie's house and ended up having out Halloween Party.  I made the root beer and I wasn't really impressed with it.  I was bummed out.
These pictures are of the food we made.  Everyone had to make something fun for the party.  We had sloppy Joes and muddy buddies.

We had "Green Snot Salad"(macaroni salad), spider eggs, and witches hat.

Ear Wax Appetizers(marshmellows & peanut butter), Used band-aids
Jell-O brain and monster donuts.  I made both of these but as you can see they didn't turn out very well either.  I was bummed.  It was a fun day and we had a great weekend spending time with everyone.

Linder Farms Preschool Field Trip

This month Rachel's preschool field trip was to Linder Farms.  It was a pretty nice day but the wind blowing was bitter cold if you didn't keep moving.  It was the only time we went there this year.  It was a lot cheaper to go with the school then on our own.

 Rachel and her friend Mandy.

The new slide this year.  The kids were all so short the parents had to help them get up to the top.  I wasn't sure if Rachel was going to go but she ended up coming down just fine.

Waiting in line.  She actually would crowd in front of all the kids standing up there in line when she got back up to the top.  I tried to keep her from doing this but when I'm on the ground and she is way up there I had no success.

She actually came down so fast but she didn't cry when she ended up on her hands.  She actually laughed.

We jumped on the tractor to headed out to the pumpkin patch.  Rachel wasn't happy with me taking pictures today.  She didn't want to smile for the pictures.

The pumpkin she picked.  Yes this is the 1st one she saw and the 1st one she picked up.

This is why she picked the 1st pumpkin she saw.  She wanted to go over and pet all the animals at the petting zoo.

 More animals.

The kids then went over to the corn box and had a hay day in there.  Here is Rachel attempting her corn angel.
Even on our field trip we got snacks.  Rachel got popcorn and a Capri Sun.
Everyone was finished but Rachel didn't want to go yet.  She wanted to do the maze.
So we headed to the straw maze and she ran through it.  She actually was able to find her way out with me only helping her once.  After that we headed to Garbonzo's for lunch.  We saw our friends the Rex's there.  Beka and Rachel bought themselves gum balls.  This is what Rachel looked like trying to eat a blue one.
I thought she was going to throw up because it was so big in her mouth.
