Mud Sink

We are slowly working on the mud room. I decided I wanted to get the mud sink in since we haven't had any sod in the back and Scott and I have been doing lots of work outside. The mud is nasty over here because it's more clay than mud and never comes off our shoes. So I was like let's get the mud sink in. So this is the mud sink. I love having it there because you can go in and wash your hands and not have to take your shoes off to walk to the bathroom and then go back outside. Saves lots of shoe tying. We have ordered the cabinets for the mud room. They should be here in the next one to two weeks. I'm so excited. I'm not sure Scott's so excited because that means he has more work to do. He loves working on the "honey do" List.

Front Landscaping

So as most of you all know about us we don't like to do yard work. We are not the landscaping type. Well unfortunately living in a subdivision with CCR's there are certain things you HAVE to do. We have to have one tree and five one gallon bushes. Here is our one tree. I wanted it further way from the house and Scott wanted it closer to the house. We compromised and put it in between where each of us wanted it. We ended up digging the hole and guess what we hit? Yep the sprinkler pipe. Made a nice little dent in it. So Scott being totally happy about that (NOT) said we should have gone with his instincts and put it closer to the house. So it's closer to the house than I would have liked but after having to replace part of a sprinkler pipe that's where it's staying. It is an aristocrat pear. So far we really like it when it's blooming it's white flowers.

These are our five one gallon bushes. I don't know if they would really classify them as bushes but we did. So we did three bleeding hearts and two rose bushes. There really are two rose bushes in between each bleeding heart but they kind of blend in with the new bark. Sorry you'll just have to trust me on that one. :-)

Concrete Extension to Camper Pad

Like I said in the other post Scott and I didn't think this camper pad through all the way when we built. We had them make the camper pad the exact width of the camper and then thought that the length of the third car garage would be long enough for the camper to sit on. Well no such luck. Our camper hung off about three feet so the stabilizer jacks were in the dirt instead of being on the cement. So we hired a concrete company to come and help us out. The guy was really nice and Scott liked him and knew right away we were going to use him. He told us we could actually take the cement all the way to the house and could enclose in the gas meter. I thought it looked dumb just being there in dirt but Scott thought it was against code. So Roger(the concrete contractor) said sure I can pour cement in that corner and you won't have to worry about weeds growing up in there. He also said that the foot we left in between the house and the camper pad(left there because we knew we had to put a fence post in there for the gate) he would fill in with cement and make it all nice looking. He also rebuilt the side of the camper pad where we had started to have erosion happening. So after having to keep the camper on the street for 5 days we put it back in its spot and it just makes that whole area look so much better. We are totally happy with it.

Gate & Side Fence

So Scott and I ended up getting a warning on our door about the fact that the camper needed to be out of sight. After looking at the CCR's we found out that it only had to be behind a gate. So we put the gate up. Yes we only did the gate. Scott and I kind of messed up on the camper pad royally when building our house. We made the camper pad exactly the width of the camper. So if we are to put up a fence by the camper we will not be able to open the camper door. Our solution to the problem is put up the gate so we can say it's behind a gate and not put up a fence until our neighbor(if we ever get one) says they want a fence. So for now our solution works. :-)

If you look closely you can see that the middle pole actually goes down into the cement. When our concrete guys came to pour cement for an extension to our camper pad (check out next post for that one) they offered to drill the hole for us. Scott was so excited because we were going to have to go rent the hammer drill to do it. So finally saved our selves some money by being procrastinators.

This just is the side fence with a gate. We are definitely not fence pro's. I was insistent on the top being even with our neighbors and yet after we got all of them up you can see about 6 inches underneath where there is day light. I guess I should have gone around and looked at everyone else's fences and noticed that most of the fences in our neighborhood were matched by the slope of the ground not being even on top. Oh well life goes on. It looks fine! Scott has even been busy staining all of the fences. We love the color it's leaving on the fence.
