So I was called as Girls Camp Director for my ward. I was really excited about it. I couldn't believe how much work it was but it was definitely a learning experience. Our theme was Be thou strong and of good Courage. It's also the mutual theme for the year. I just knew that's what we needed to help the girls remember though. We had 24 girls come to camp with us. We split them into 3 teams (A-Team, Deadly Daisies, Blue Inferno) and did a survivor theme with them being strong and of good courage. We went to Hycliff's Girls Camp out in the Owyhee Desert. I was really concerned about taking the girls there because they said it has rattlesnakes. I do not like snakes at all. So I was having nightmares about this before we even left for camp. We got the girls loaded up and headed to camp on Tuesday Morning. The first day was so busy. We had tons and tons of stuff to do. We actually went with the 14th ward from our stake but as the week went on we were able to see that they didn't have a camp director that cared very much and most of them were bored and starving all week. So we allowed them to do activities with us and we let them eat our food with us also. We ended up keeping Scott really busy during the week as a nurse. We ended up having a concussion, a broken finger, cut finger, a hay sliver, and heat stroke. Scott sent the broken finger to the ER. The first night there though I ended up being really sick. I was dry heaving all night long. It was really bad. I finally got up around 5:30 and just went outside the camper because Scott had to work the night before we left of course so he was running on no sleep also and I didn't want to keep him up any longer. I ended up having to eat just bread and Gatorade most of the day. Their hikes went really quickly because they weren't able to go off the roads because of the rattlesnakes. So we spent lots of time on the water slide keeping ourselves cool because it was hot the whole time there. I was really happy they had a walk in fridge. It was a great place to have meetings in. I really didn't hear about any of the girls fighting and so that was great. We had a wonderful testimony meeting. I just keep thinking back to what a wonderful spirit that was felt there during testimony meeting. It totally makes everything we went through to get to that point just to hear the girls bear their testimony about friendship, being able to feel of worth and an atmosphere where they can feel the spirit. It was just so awesome. I'm very grateful for the experience I had at camp and am excited to do Girls Camp again next year but at a much better camp spot.

So before we headed to camp we had to learn a few items for certification. This night we learned how to tie knots with licorice. Yep worked out good and they got their snack from it.
We checked to make sure the tents had all their poles and then also learned how to fold them up correctly and put them back in the bags.
We finally made it to Camp. Very little shade as you can see. The girls huddled all their tents under this patch of trees.
We found a spot for the camper with some late afternoon shade and then you can see Kammi and the leaders tents. Even at night it didn't cool off in our camper. Wished I had an air conditioning unit in it that's for sure.
We then made the girls do different activities to see which team could do things the fastest or the best. Here are the activities:
Marshmallow blowers. Had to get so many into the bucket.
Balloon baseball. See how many balloons each batter could hit.
Concentration matching game.
How many licked marshmallows can you get to stay on someones face in one minute.
Figure out what the flavor of the baby food is.
Tug of war. Yes my team won. I was the anchor as you can imagine why.
2010 Charter Pointe Girls Camp. Sammy Halladay is the one hiding under the pink hat. She didn't want to have her picture taken.
This was the slide that kept us all from having heat stroke out there. It was so much fun. This is the picture of all the girls going down. Yes they left some at the top who were trying to catch up to them. Needless to say there was a pile up at the bottom of the slide.
Going down on my belly on my flotation device which made it faster.
Scott trying to stand up while still sliding. He biffed it.
This is the kitchen where Kammi and I spent a lot of time making sure we were on task and had the next activity or food prep going.
Another fun activity for the girls was having Brother Loveland come up with his horses. It was so much fun and so awesome. The girls had a ball but wished that there was more time to ride the horses. Yes we had to share this with the 14th ward also because they just didn't have anything planned for their girls. Oh well we were being Christ like in letting them be a part of our group also. Made for great memories. I was definitely happy to be done with it and on a break for a few months before I had to start planning the next years camp. Kammi came home from camp and got called to be the Relief Society President in her ward. They were splitting our ward the next week. I was sad to see her go as my camp director because we had an awesome time together.
