Bonnie's 2015 Halloween Party

Today we had Bonnie's Halloween party.  It was so much fun.  We got there around noon time and we all eat lunch.  It was a yummy lunch of Alfredo, Caesar salad, skull calzones, garlic bread, and road kill (chocolate chocolate chip cookies) with ice cream on them.  They were warm right out of the oven and so delicious.  Rachel had her gluten free noodles and we let her dip it in the Alfredo sauce to see if the dairy would cause any problems for her stomache.  She did so good and was very responsive to almost everything.  We didn't have to get mad at her at all.  She has become such a pleasant child.  The first game everyone played was we had something Halloween related stuck to our back and we had to figure out what we were.  I was Cookie Monster and Rachel was a witch.  After lunch the kids got into their costumes and did a costume parade.
 Rachel as a mermaid.
She isn't Ariel because she doesn't have red hair and she doesn't want me to make it red either.

Scott just relaxin in the chair waiting for the parade.

Getting all lined up for the parade. Bonnie's mom is the fairy Godmother.  Just an awesome outfit.

 Marching in the parade.

Everyone who dressed up.  The rest of us just took pictures.

After the parade they could get out of their costume and play the balloon game.  You tie a balloon to your ankle and then try to pop everyone else balloon while trying to keep your balloon from being popped.
Rachel's honing in on Emma's balloon but Ben popped Rachel's at the same time.
After this we did musical chairs but Rachel ended up getting stung by a wasp and so we were in the house until they started this next game.

This was a concentration game.  If you found the match you got to keep one of them.
Rachel won Swedish fish.

This was a pumpkin game.  Everyone was trying to get their pumpkin closes to the green pumpkin.  Whoever was the closes got to win a prize.

Our next game was the donut eating contest.  It's always fun.

Rachel with the donut on her nose.  I was laughing so hard at this point.

Finally getting the hang of biting underneath it.

Head to head with Bonnie.  She got her's off but I eat more of my donuts while it was on the string. Bonnie's nephew kept moving the bar while we were trying this.  I would just get lined up ready to take a bite and it would get moved up and I would miss.

Scott got in on the next group.  He did pretty good but Ben beat everyone.

Bonnie's mom ended up only getting one bite out of her donut.

It was then time for the ring toss so you could have something to drink after your donut.  Rachel couldn't get it so I did it and the 2nd one I threw I got it on the bottle.  I then kept trying my luck but it wasn't as good.

This was the Trick or Treat game.  Rachel got a bottle of invisible ink.
After this it was time to eat.  The kids went upstairs to play Bingo while the adults got dinner ready.

This was our festive food.  All of it was so yummy.  The only thing not pictured were the hamburgers that had cheese cut out in the shape of ghosts.  Yummy Yummy Yummy.  After we got the kitchen cleaned up it was time to do the last game.

The fishing pond.  Each kid got to do it twice.  Rachel ended up with a flashlight that has different pictures on each piece(bats, ghost, pumpkin, and a cat) along with a coloring book.  Everything that she loves.  After that everyone got their coats and shoes on and we walked over to the grave yard.  Bonnie told a story about someone who had died and the kids got to touch different parts of the person's body.  Rachel got really freaked out and wouldn't even touch the last three bags.  I touched each one of them.  We took a quick walk in the graveyard and then headed back to Bonnie's house.  Rachel was tired and still a little bit scared and so we headed home.  Rachel didn't even make it to Inkom before she fell asleep.  We got home and she went right to bed.  It was another great Halloween bash.  So much fun.

Halloween Fun 2015

We ended up going to Swore Farm and letting Rachel pick out a pumpkin.  While we were there though we ended up going through the corn maze.  It was dark by 6:00 when we went out for our family home evening.  Rachel got really scared.  I got down on her level and looked her in the eyes to let her know that her mom and dad would never leave her by herself in here.  After we had a quick heart to heart she was happy and started reading all the signs for us in the maze so we could find our way out.  She then did the straw maze while I talked with Wendy who owns the farm.
Wendy finished this today and we were the first ones to get to use it.  Totally awesome.
We of course had to go home and then carve the pumpkin.  We did talk Rachel into waiting a few days so that it wouldn't go bad.  She refused to let us put it on the porch also.
Scott helping to cut open the pumpkin. Rachel of course cheesing for the camera.

She wanted to get the yucky guts out of it this year.  It took her forever so finally she asked for Scott's help with it.  He just used a spot to get it off the sides and then let Rachel reach in to pull it out.

Of course she knows how she wants its face to look like.

Finished product that sat by the side of the front door until the day before Halloween.

The following are how I decorated my house for Halloween.  It's fun to have a new place to decorate.

The house and bats are new this year.  Bonnie and I made them for a craft day.

Head wounds

This last few weeks was rough for Rachel.  She ended up with two head wounds.  The first one came at the JT family reunion.  She decided this huge dog would make a great pillow.  Well needless to say the dog wasn't happy that Rachel hurt her as she was getting off of her.  She swatted her big huge paw at Rachel and cut her head open.  We were in the woods so Scott just super glued it and then used part of the hair as stitches.
Not bad for being in the woods.
Then it was six weeks later and I got a phone call from Scott saying I needed to go get Rachel because she got hurt at school.  So I headed over there and had no idea what I was walking in to.  Thankfully there was a friend from the ward sitting there holding Rachel and comforting her.  I took this picture to send to Scott.
He said he couldn't tell really what was going on but go to the clinic.  So I headed straight to the clinic and said Susie please help.  We took her to a room and started to clean up her head.  Susie was like yep she's going to have to get staples.  While we waited for Scott we were trying to figure out what happened.  All she could say was that she fell off the monkey bars.  Scott got there right after we got it cleaned up and she needed some staples in her head.  So I held her while Scott gave her the shot to deaden the spot.  Oh boy she screamed bloody murder but other then that she was a complete trooper and hardly cried at all through it.
7 stitches later it's all put back together.  She did had a giant goose egg that went along with it.
Side Note:  Once Rachel's thoughts stopped being all mangled she was able to tell us that she was crawling down head first on the spider web and slipped.  She thought oh I'll just drop down to the ground and my knees will hit the ground first.  She didn't get flipped around and landed right on her head.

Rachelism

So it's been quite awhile since we've had a really good Rachelism but I had to share this one.  We were at work in Boise for a few days.  Rachel got to come with me.  She ended up meeting one of the SLP's she hadn't meet before.  This is the conversation.
Rachel:  Hi
Colette:  Hi, You must be Rachel.
R:  How did you know that?
C:  Well I see lots of pictures on Facebook of you.  Your really cute.
R:  Yeah I am.  I'm really smart and I have a really big personality too. It's okay I can handle it though.
