Today was the last day of the McCall winter festival. We had to wait until my Stake volleyball was over for the day before we were able to go up there. We knew that Rachel wouldn't want to stay the whole time so we were fine with getting up there later in the day. We stopped 1st at the ice sculpture that is just as you come into town at the Best Western Hotel.
Standing by the Kangaroo. Here is the rest of the picture:
Sydney Opera House
While Scott and I were getting our winter clothes on Rachel was so excited to see the snow that she was up this mountain of snow climbing all over it. She really actually didn't want us to have to move from it. We did finally get her to come down so we could go see the sculptures.
She was able to climb on almost every sculpture. She makes a great model. :-)
This was some building like they have in Japan.
A car that you could actually sit in.
An ice slide. We stayed here for about ten minutes while she went up and down this every which way she could.
A Unicorn
The details on this were amazing. It won 1st place in the contest where they made these in one day.
This was my all time favorite. It was all the characters from Finding Nemo. So cool!!!
Huge Cupcake
A VW Bug
This was king of the mountain. You got to actually put a flag in the top once you got up there.
The penguins. We then ended up going and getting dinner at a restaurant we hadn't tried yet. It was called My Father's Place. It was packed but we were able to get a table and the food was pretty good. After that we decided that we should let Rachel go sledding. Yes real sledding. We have taken her around the neighborhood on the 4 wheeler but she had never gone down a hill on a sled. Oh she was so happy.
Walking back up the hill. We actually had to walk down and get her every time and then help her back up the hill. She just didn't have enough traction to get back up. We did this for about an hour.
She wanted to go back and do the slide again and so we let her. She did this for another 1/2 an hour as we waited for the firework show to start. The firework show was actually pretty good for a little town's firework show. We got back to the car and she was so cold because as we found out her socks were soaking wet from snow having gone into her shoes. She started crying because of it. We got her cloths off of her and put blankets on her to get her warmed up. It was a fun day.
We snapped this one on the way out of town. It was a pyramid and you could go inside to see the lights glow through the ice. They have some amazing people who come up with some awesome sculptures.
